Official Rules
 
  1. No purchase is necessary. Contest is sponsored by North Jersey Media Group Inc. (NJMG), publisher of The Record. Contest runs November 6 – November 17, 2011. Contest is open to all U.S. residents, except officers, directors and employees of North Jersey Media Group Inc., Kings Super Markets, Inc (“Kings”) and Chef Central and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and agencies, and the immediate family members and/or persons living in the same household as any of the foregoing persons.
  2. Entry forms for the contest will appear in The Record November 6 through 17, 2011. Entry will also be permitted online at http://www.northjersey.com/cookiecontest and at select Kings locations. To enter, participants submit an original holiday cookie recipe to be judged by a panel of experts. Submission of entries at Kings limited to the locations set forth below in paragraph 4. Only cookie recipes will be eligible; no cakes, pies or other non-cookie dessert recipes will be accepted. Each cookie recipe submission must include a completed official entry form and nomination with the recipe. Submissions without a completed entry form, nomination and copy of the recipe will not be eligible. Photos of the cookie may be submitted as well.
  3. All cookie recipes must be authentic, original, non-published recipes. Any recipe that is deemed previously published will be disqualified. Entry into the contest grants North Jersey Media Group Inc., its successors and assigns, winner’s irrevocable consent to reproduce and publish the recipe, to edit it, to create derivative works, to republish it an unlimited number of times in any publication formats or media, including all electronic media and any other medium now known or hereafter invented and the right to sublicense any and/or all of these rights.
  4. Cookie recipes may be mailed in, submitted online or dropped off at any of the following Kings locations: -Kings Super Market in Midland Park, 85 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, NJ -Kings Super Market in Ridgewood, 112 N. Maple Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ -Kings Super Market in Cresskill, 70 Union Avenue in Cresskill, NJ -Kings Super Market in Hillsdale, 381 Washington Avenue in Hillsdale, NJ -Kings Super Market in Verona, 300 Pompton Avenue in Verona, NJ -Kings Super Market in Montclair, 650 Valley Road in Montclair, NJ Submissions must be received by November 17, 11:59 p.m. EST.
  5. Enter as many times as you would like, however, each entry must consist of a different recipe with a separate entry form and nomination. Only recipe submissions received by November 17, 11:59 p.m. EST with a fully completed official entry form and nomination will be eligible.
  6. North Jersey Media Group Inc., Kings and Chef Central and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and the officers, directors, employees, owners, and agents of each of the foregoing entities are not responsible for lost, stolen, ineligible, late, damaged, incorrect, incomplete, illegible, or any circumstances affecting receipt of entries or entrants' ability to participate in the Holiday Cookie Contest. All entries become the exclusive property of North Jersey Media Group Inc. and will not be returned. If you have any questions, call 1-888-829-2595.
  7. Three (3) finalists will be selected by The Record food editors whose decisions on all matters relating to this contest are final. Finalists will be notified by November 28. The three (3) will compete in a live bake-off at Chef Central on December 6, 2011 at 6 p.m. Odds of being chosen as a finalist depend on the number of eligible entries received and the ability to meet the criteria in which cookie recipes will judged upon as described below in paragraph 8.
  8. All cookie recipe entries will be vetted by The Record’s food editors. Three finalists will be chosen based on appeal of the recipe, originality and strength of the recommendation. The finalists will then participate in a live bake-off where they will bake their cookie recipe and be judged by a panel of guest judges to be determined by The Record. These judges will taste the three cookies and rate each on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best, 1 being the worst). Judging will be based on three categories: taste, uniqueness and appearance.
  9. First through third place will be determined by total scores. A People’s Choice award will be determined by audience members who will vote by ballot after tasting each of the three cookies. Ties will be broken by a selected member of the judging panel. The panel’s decisions on all matters relating to this contest are binding and final.
  10. Prizes are as follows: - One (1) first place winner will a 5qt KitchenAid® Stand Mixer ($299.99 value) - One (1) second place winner will receive a $100.00 Chef Central gift certificate. - One (1) third place winner will receive a 9 Speed KitchenAid® Digital Hand Mixer ($79.99 value) - One (1) finalist chosen as the People’s Choice winner will receive a $50.00 Chef Central gift certificate. Chef Central gift certificates expire within 24 months of being issued.
  11. All prizes will be awarded. Only one prize is allowed per household. Prizes awarded to minors will be delivered only to the minor’s parent or legal guardian. In the event such a person’s entry is selected as a winner, the person with the next highest score will be deemed the winner.
  12. Winners will be notified of their prize amount at the live event on December 6 once the bake-off is completed. If a winner cannot confirm intention to accept the prize by December 7, 2011 at 5 p.m. EST, the prize will be forfeited and the person with the next highest score will be deemed an alternate winner. Each winner (or the parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor) must supply valid I.D. and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability & Publicity Release (“Affidavit”) prior to receiving a prize. Due to time constraints, winners must, by 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 2011, either (1) present their I.D. and sign the Affidavit at The Record, 1 Garret Mountain Plaza, Woodland Park, NJ 07424, or (2) fax a copy of their I.D. and the signed Affidavit to The Record at 973-569-7514, attention Amanda La Para. If a winner fails to provide I.D., fails to complete and sign affidavit, or if prize notification is not answered/confirmed during notification telephone call, that entry will be void and the person with the next highest score will be deemed an alternate winner.
  13. Prizes are non-transferable. Cash redemption, exchange, or substitution is not allowed, except at the sole discretion of North Jersey Media Group Inc. North Jersey Media Group Inc. reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Taxes and/or fees are the sole responsibility of the winners.
  14. Entry constitutes agreement to hold North Jersey Media Group, Kings, Chef Central and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and the officers, directors, employees, owners, and agents of each of the foregoing entities, harmless from and against any and all damages, liability, losses, and expenses arising out, or claimed to be arising out of, this Contest or acceptance or use of the prize(s).
  15. North Jersey Media Group Inc. reserves the right to terminate, modify, or otherwise change this Contest, at its sole discretion, should it determine that its fairness has been compromised. North Jersey Media Group Inc.’s decisions on all matters relating to this Contest are final.
  16. Contest subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where taxed, restricted, or prohibited by law.
  17. By claiming a prize, winners consent to publication of their names, likeness, hometown, and prize allocation in The Record. For a list of all prize winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Cookie Contest Winners, c/o Marketing Department, 1 Garret Mountain Plaza, P.O. Box 471, Woodland Park, NJ 07424. Requests must be received by May 30, 2012.
  18. Entry constitutes agreement to be bound by all of the foregoing rules and terms, and also constitutes permission to use the winner’s name and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
